The event, themed “Investments, Integration, Infrastructure, and Governance to Fuel the Energy Transition,” seeks to inspire revolutionary initiatives aimed at achieving universal access to modern and sustainable energy throughout the continent.

As Africa’s energy demands grow rapidly, collaborations such as this have become increasingly essential. The Expo, taking place from November 4–6, is a three-day forum that connects stakeholders in the energy sector with policymakers, investors, and researchers who share a common vision of sustainable development.

CEOs from major utility companies like UETCL and UEDCL, along with other utility leaders, participated, emphasizing a strong commitment to regional partnerships and the pursuit of grid solutions that can drive Africa’s future.

Rwanda’s Minister of State, Olivier Kabera opened the event with an impactful speech, stressing the necessity of collective efforts to tackle energy deficits and climate issues. The Expo includes a variety of sessions, such as technical seminars, business skills workshops, hosted buyer programs, and strategic networking opportunities, all designed to encourage partnerships and investment in Africa’s energy initiatives.

A key moment of the day was a lively panel discussion on “Developing a Resilient Policy Framework to Use the Africa Single Electricity Market.” During this session, energy regulators from various countries shared insights on policies that could assist an interconnected and resilient African power grid. A strong policy framework is essential for achieving the African Single Electricity Market (AfSEM) and ensuring an equitable energy transition that benefits all African communities.
