Rwanda’s annual political events compared to Chinese Two Sessions

Two Sessions Each March of every year, China holds the most important political meetings which are called “Two Sessions.” NPC deputies submit motions as the voice of the people they represent, while CPPCC National Committee members offer proposals to participate in the deliberation and administration of state affairs.

Rwanda happens to have similar practices which are National Dialogue (Umushyikirano) and the Leadership Retreat (Umwiherero w’abayobozi). These two major meetings in Rwanda serve as good governance tools that allow Rwandans to participate in their national decision making and to reflect on the country’s progress as they identify strategies to spearhead national priorities.
