MININFRA and EPD unite to advance Rwanda’s energy future

The Ministry of Infrastructure (MININFRA) and the Energy Private Developers Association (EPD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration and drive progress in Rwanda’s energy sector. This agreement aims to enhance coordination between public and private entities, aligning their efforts to achieve the goals outlined in the Energy Sector Strategic Plan (ESSP) and the National Strategy for Transformation (NST).

The partnership highlights the shared commitment of MININFRA and EPD to create a supportive environment for sustainable growth by developing Rwanda’s energy sector.

The MoU prioritizes sector coordination, information sharing, and joint initiatives between the public and private sectors. MININFRA will focus on facilitating consultations, supporting collaborative projects, and guiding EPD and its members to align with Rwanda’s national energy objectives.

On the other hand, EPD will lead efforts to coordinate private sector players in the energy field, encourage their involvement in policymaking, and promote investment opportunities. EPD will also work to raise awareness about available opportunities while fostering partnerships to advance government energy initiatives.

This collaboration sets the stage for a stronger, more integrated energy sector, which is essential for Rwanda’s sustainable economic development. Through this partnership, the two entities aim to contribute to job creation, economic growth, and improved energy access across the country.

About EPD
The Energy Private Developers Association (EPD) is a professional organization representing over 200 private energy companies in Rwanda. These companies specialize in areas such as solar, mini-grids, hydroelectric power, clean cooking, methane gas, e-mobility, and renewable energy technologies. EPD also champions the empowerment of women in the energy transition.

As a key association under the Private Sector Federation (PSF) of Rwanda, EPD focuses on advocacy, collaboration, and fostering partnerships to advance the country’s energy sector.
